BLUE FUNNEL -
Voyages & Voices -Take 2 After the success of the first Blue Funnel - Voyages and Voices film, the demand for more of the same has been overwhelming, and, here it is…. Voyages and Voices -- Take 2. After the first film ex Alfred Holt men have popped up all over the world with their amazing old cine footage and photographs. These coupled with more memories of those who actually sailed with Blue Funnel provide us with another glimpse of what the British merchant navy, and in particular Alfred Holt’s shipping line, was like in its heyday. This
time we also include some moving film of the other arm of Holts, the Glen
Line or Red Funnel ships, just as important, remembered and revered as
their ‘blue sisters’. When
talking to ex- Holts men there is a common thread with them all, a harsh
word about the company is very rarely heard. All display a loyalty and
affection towards what were, in essence, their employers. It would be
fair to say that such an attitude is not universal to all seafarers, but
with the ex- Blueys men it is quite remarkable. Why?
Probably
because Holts were a caring, industrious, and in their day a pioneering
shipping company. Not only that, but they provided the training,
experience and chances of a lifetime for young men who heard the call of
the sea and answered it. Running time approx: 60.00 mins Price £17.95 inc. p&p in UK other international formats available.
